“Scars, Curses & Words” takes us on an epic journey through love, pain, life lessons and hardships. The purity of the music leads us to the culmination of a man who's found his calling. Its a sharp contrast to 2017's prior efforts Juvenilia EP & Librascale EP, which captivate your mind more than your your heart.

about

“Scars, Curses & Words”

On the self-produced lead single "More Time:, MorDan raps about needing time to harness his skills and uses "Paid My Dues" to show how he’s been hustling in a dead end job but “The CEO’s dog bowl’s still bigger than my pension”. "My Love This Time" & "Brothers Keeper", tackle deeper issues such as being in a tumultuous and fobidden relationship and the unforgettable life lessons learned with his peers.

MorDan gets emotional & tugs on our heart strings on the album's title track “Scars, Curses & Words". There's clearly a more fluid, natural and heartfelt sound in comparison to his earlier projects and is easily one of his most open, honest and soulful songs to date. It features a host of clever, complex and quoteable bars, as we've come to look forward to on his tracks, "Thin line between carving success and self harming like Van Gogh" being one of the many.

Ever the realist it's important to note that Mordan isn't a run of the mill one dimensional rapper, but someone formidable who's got style and flare to match the skillset and deliver it in abundance. On cue in the opening line of "Comfy In My Own Skin", his bars are brimming with self confidence and his flow's sharp enough to cut through the shadows and reveal the truth. He cleverly raps "Am a Playboy like Hugh Heff-nah i'm just fronting, my baby girls a spice and I aint talking Emma Bunton".

Singles like "2Pacssionate" and "Heal My Wounds" offer countless jewels to steal for Instagram captions, to fool onlookers into misbelieving they're highly intellectual. This is a stark reminder of just how humble and grounded MorDan is. Not seeking the fame or glorifying a gangster pipe dream lifestyle, MorDan offers something innovative with grace, style and a nuance that's very reminiscent of a hybrid Illmatic, Nas meets young Reasonable Doubt, Jay Z.

The "Stretch Talk" Interludes, appear at key moments throughout the album to offer humour and wit as a salve to the cleverly poignant subject matters touched on throughout the journey of Scars, Curses & Words. These interludes help the listener to build a picture of who MorDan really is.

The album finishes off strong on "The World is yours" with a melodic synth pulsating us to a close. This album is what needs to be heard! It's not your radio friendly club banger or 1-liner repetitive chorus rap championed by todays youth. It is a sincere introspective look into the makings of a promising British artist. It's not far fetched to say even Mr Kipling would be proud for a slice of this sweet wordplay.

MorDan is not only an emphatic artist but also an inspiring entrepeneur. He cheekily references his property gain on his quotable Blackbox Freestyle "...Coppin' yards by 26, now trying to Win Three (Winfrey) like Oprah for my unborn kids". Unfortunately we weren’t offered an MTV Cribs style tour of his flat but watch this space, we’re coming for the next one.
